Large-scale architectural signage requires more than visual impact alone. When signage is being installed onto a modern façade system, material choice, manufacturing accuracy and installation support all play an important role in delivering a successful finished result.
Selected by Inchpunch Design Limited, Applelec manufactured bespoke built-up aluminium lettering for the UK Agri-Tech Centre’s Midlands Agri-Tech Innovation Hub, forming part of a striking signage scheme spanning approximately 21 metres across the building façade.
The project featured large-scale non-illuminated built-up aluminium letters, powder coated in a specified green RAL finish alongside gloss black elements. Designed to create strong visual impact on arrival, the signage complements the building’s contemporary architectural exterior while maintaining a clean, high-quality finish.
With some letters exceeding one metre in height, careful handling throughout manufacture was essential to maintain consistency in both finish and construction quality, ensuring the completed signage arrived site-ready.
The letters were manufactured using built-up backtrays to provide additional strength and reliable fixing support across the aluminium cladding system. Aluminium was also specifically selected to align with the building façade material, helping to minimise the risk of cross-metal contamination while maintaining a cohesive overall finish.
To support a smooth installation process, Applelec supplied fixing templates alongside the completed lettering, allowing the customer’s onsite installers to position and install the signage efficiently and accurately.
