Applelec Supply were selected to provide the illumination solutions for the innovative, award winning, Wellington Place architectural wayfinding scheme, designed by Placemarque and developed, manufacture and installed by Astra Group.
This exciting development in the heart of Leeds combines Grade A office space with top eateries, networking facilities and inspiring outdoor spaces.
“Wellington Place is a remarkable development, combining cutting-edge design with incredible Grade II heritage features.” Said Sales Director at Astra Signs, Paul Dyke.
To help visitors navigate the space a suite of sculptural wayfinding monoliths was created including digital gateways. Each one combined a unique mesh design that mirrored its architectural surroundings, blending the practicality of helping visitors to navigate the environment with architectural design seamlessly.
Applelec Supply were tasked with providing backlighting solutions to illuminate the text and logo within this design as well as the mesh which required a colour changing solution that could be easily controlled.
For bright, crisp back illumination to the flush finished logo and text, SloanLED Prism24 mini 6500k, was selected. This tiny but powerful LED module features micro prism lens technology to produce wide, energy-efficient consistent light in all its applications that have a shallow depth.
Applelec RGB tape was then selected to deliver a bright array of vibrant colours to the mesh face, which is adjustable by the supplied LTECH control gear, perfectly showcasing this architectural feature, drawing the eye to the array of complimentary, changing colours.
This innovative project was awarded ‘Wayfinding scheme of the year’ at the 2023 Sign Awards and is a great example of how wayfinding solutions can be both functional and beautiful, whilst enhancing the users experience of a space.
Congratulations to the team at Astra Group on this worthy recognition of their hard work and thank you to the team for selecting Applelec Supply to provide the illumination solutions.
